Chris Miller
Chris Miller, CPA, CEO
While traveling to India as part of a graduate studies course, Chris Miller’s heart was opened to the widespread suffering that he witnessed throughout the country. After meeting several humanitarian and ecological activists in India, including Sanjay Samantaray, Chris saw an opportunity to become involved in the alleviation of some part of this suffering and decided to found Surfing Yogis USA, a US 501(c)3 non-profit committed to this end.
Chris is a certified public accountant, holding a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola Marymount University where he is also currently a candidate for a master’s degree in comparative theology. While taking study breaks, he enjoys surfing, cycling and practicing yoga and meditation to keep it all in balance.

Aaron James Anderson
Aaron James Anderson, CFO and Director of Strategic Planning
Following the events of September 11, 2001, Aaron left college and joined the U.S. Army Special Forces. In 2006, Aaron was traumatically wounded in combat while deployed in Afghanistan.
Aaron spent 7 months at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. recovering from his injuries. While in recovery, he saw a need for an organization that would assist his fellow Special Forces brothers. In 2009, Aaron founded the Green Beret Foundation.
After retiring from the armed services, Aaron went back to college and is currently pursuing a degree in International Studies at the University of California, Irvine.
Aaron has long had a passion for surfing. He and SYUSA founder, Chris, would spend time in the water together during Aaron’s military leave. It was in 2010 that Aaron’s wife, Alexandra, introduced him to the sport of stand up paddle boarding. Due to Aaron’s injuries, his surfing has been severely limited but he still loves the sport and what its experience provides to the human spirit.
